There are different awards the children can recieve:
When we fill half a sticker card for diligence and great work we receive a Head teachers’ certificate.
One complete card wins us our bronze certificate and badge.
A second complete card wins us our silver certificate and badge.
Our third complete card wins us our gold badge.
Those of us who are diligent enough to complete a fourth card win a Special Award badge.
We are all in a team representative of the local area: Alphin (green), Noon Sun (yellow), Wharmton (blue), Alderman (red). We are awarded team points when we meet the school’s expectations, work well together and set a good example for others. All members of staff are also included in the teams.
The class with the highest attendance each week wins an attendance prize and golden time or an additional break time.
For each week we have a full week in school our name is put into the class attendance tin. Each half term a winner is drawn from the tin – each winner can choose a book as a prize.
For each whole term we are in school we are awarded a bronze, silver or gold attendance certificate.
Each pupil who achieves 100% attendance over the year receives a 100% badge and a book of their choice.
Research shows that if there was a piece of litter lying on the floor, 19 people are likely to walk past it; it is only the twentieth person who will pick it up.
Each week the cooks, mid-day supervisors, Frosties, the head teacher and pupils nominate a ‘Twentieth Kid’; someone who has gone out of their way to be the best that they can be.
Twentieth Kid traits are broken down into three groups:
Social Character – feeling connected to our peers, teachers and school; caring, kindness, friendliness, respect, honesty, fairness, tolerance, loyalty, patience, enthusiasm, optimism, gratitude, sense of humour, sincerity.
Achievement Character – doing our best in school and beyond; drive, diligence, persistence, mental toughness, initiative, perseverance, patience, self-discipline, determination, enthusiasm, caring, pride, respect, honesty, responsibility, open mindedness
Ethical Character – knowing the difference between right and wrong and choosing to do the right thing even when it might be difficult; caring, kindness, friendliness, respect, honesty, fairness, diligence, loyalty, patience, perseverance, optimism, responsibility, self-discipline.
