Class 2 at Friezland Primary
Class 2 is currently a class of 31 children across Years 1 and 2. The class teacher is Mrs Wilson and Mrs Stacey, Mrs Wrigley and Mrs Hadfield are our LSA’s that help us with our work. The children spend two years in this KS1 class before moving up to KS2.
We have a creative curriculum that is based on a half termly theme:
Autumn 1 – Light and Dark
Autumn 2 – Christmas
Spring 1 – Traditional Tales
Spring 2 – Space
Summer 1 – Farm vs Seaside
Summer 2 – Plants
The children receive weekly home learning tasks. Spellings are based on the daily phonics sessions and are given on a Friday, to be tested the following Friday. They will be given an English or Maths activity based on what we have been learning in class. This will also be given and collected on Fridays. In class, pupils will participate in a guided reading session each week and will take home a reading book to refine their reading skills by reading to an adult.
Every day we have FRED time (Friezland reading everyday) where the children are encouraged to read for pleasure. They can read a book or magazine of their choice. We also love our story time at the end of the day!
We have a class bear called Mr Rainbow Sprinkles. Each Friday, he will go home with a child who has worked extra hard and been kind and helpful throughout the week. On a Monday, he comes back to school with his diary, and shares the adventures he has had over the weekend.
Children can earn reward stickers for good behaviour or fantastic work to go on their sticker charts. Once the chart is full they are presented with a certificate and badge in Fridays special assembly. Every week a child from the class will be chosen to receive the Friezland Expectation reward. One child is awarded Star of the Week within the class.
Our classroom is a happy environment where the children feel safe and confident to experience new things and feel part of the Friezland family.
